Melissa switched career gears midway in her twenties as she decided to learn more about the ways to heal her own body from a natural perspective.  She sought a Masters in Holistic Nutrition as well as a Doctorate of Naturopathy.  Naturopathy (also known as naturopathic medicine or natural medicine) is an alternative medical system that focuses on natural remedies and the body's vitalistic ability to heal and maintain itself.

Melissa is also a Vodder trained Certified Lymphatic Drainage Therapist and is certified in treating all aspects of lymphedema including upper extremity, trunk and lower extremity lymphedema in men, women and children.  With over 1100 clinical hours of training, Melissa was personally trained by the team who created electro lymphatic drainage therapy and maintains a vigorous schedule the involves work with cancer clinical trials, cancer patients in the beginning, middle and end phases of surgery, chemo/radiation and end stage supportive care as well as is referred to by many local, regional and national plastic surgeons for her assistance in promoting adequate lymph drainage, surgery recovery and speedy healing of surgical incisions.

Melissa is also a trained LSP laser therapist and uses a specialized FDA approved blue light laser for addressing scar tissue reduction, cellulite reduction and tightening of skin around the face, neck and chin.

For the past 10 years, Melissa's focus has been working with individuals addressing digestive disorders, hormone balance, detoxification therapies and primary and secondary lymphedema cases through lymphatic decongestive treatments. Most often, clients come to Melissa after they have sought traditional medical resources and have felt frustrated, overwhelmed or unheard.

Therapy Puppy in training

Mizuki is a 9month old Great Pyrenees/Foxhound mix.  She is a sweet, calm and warm presence and am amazing addition to our staff.  Mizuki is in the training process to be a frequent visitor at local hospitals, hospice centers and rehab facilities providing cheer, comfort and healing energy to all those who pet her.  She knows all the commands to pass certifications, she just isn't ready to perform on command with an audience; she's a little shy.

She is a very smart girl and often knows when our clients need a little extra TLC.  She is an intuitive and sweet little spirit who comes to work with our owner, Melissa every Mon-Friday.  Mizuki is usually in sessions with Melissa and her clients, but between appointment she greets everyone in the lobby with her warm, calming demeanor. When requested, she will drop by for special appointments on the weekends. She is restricted from going into our spa treatment rooms and has a special little bed in Melissa's office where she naps.

Mizuki loves a scratch between the ears and right above her tail (a tough spot for her to reach) and is always grateful and overjoyed when a client brings her a special treat.  She won't admit it, but she is a very spoiled fur baby and loves working with our clients.
